Can you use Viagra with a Penis Pump?
You can use a Penis Pump and Viagra. It is safe to do so, and can give you added benefits.
This article gives you two reasons why Viagra and Pumping work together for short-term and long-term effectiveness.
Quick medical disclaimer, please always ask your prescribing doctor whether Cialis or Viagra is right for you. Don't purchase anything online claiming to be by Viagra or Cialis. Always fill out the prescription with a pharmacist.
Improve overall Erection Quality
You might prefer the ‘quality’ of your erection when using a vacuum device with Viagra or Cialis.
One of my clients found that this was the combination that worked for him and his partner:
“The combination of the Vacurect and the cleverly designed ring is both easy to use and superbly effective, especially with a boost from Viagra (although that is not essential). My partner has been even more delighted than I have!”
Something I've noticed with my clients is that often they get the erections they want by ‘cobbling together’ erection aids rather than just relying on one to work alone.
So for example, some people might find that they get about a 5/10 erection with Viagra, but it's not hard enough for the intercourse experience they want.
But then, when they combine it with a couple of pumps and a constriction ring, they get a 9/10 erection.
So if you’ve been prescribed Viagra or Cialis and you have a pump, give it a go and see what happens.
Perhaps try two separate sessions where you have Viagra or Cialis with the pump, and then another with nothing, just to compare and see what works for you.
(also keep in mind that some men have very different results/side effects with Viagra vs. Cialis - they are both PDE5 Inhibitors but their own formulas, so if you don’t like one or get results from one - ask your Doctor if you can try the other. 2. Optimising Erection Rehabilitation
Secondly, you could also incorporate Viagra or Cialis with the device within long term penile rehabilitation.
Penile Rehabilitation refers to activities done on a regular basis to promote blood flow within the penile tissue.
This keeps the penis ‘architecture’ in top condition while you are experiencing ED post Prostatectomy and facilitates recovery.
There are three penile rehabilitation studies that have looked at the difference between men who just used Viagra or Cialis alone during their erection journey after Prostatectomy, and those who used it with a vacuum device regularly (meta-analysis by Qin and colleagues, 2018).
Now, like many studies in the penile rehab field, take them with a pinch of salt because the sample sizes are really small. The largest of the three studies examined 32 men just taking the tablets, and 32 men taking tablets plus using the vacuum device.
These are not large sample sizes. Therefore, the findings are more of a promising suggestion- but not conclusive.
Two studies examined what happened over three months (Hu et al, 2014; Liu & Chen, 2016), and one study looked over 12 months (Engel, 2011).
In all cases, the vacuum device plus Viagra led to men having erections that they preferred the quality of, were able to use for intercourse, and also, they preserved their penile length/ prevented shrinkage more effectively with the combination approach, rather than just the tablets.
Therefore, you may want to discuss with your Urologist/Rehabilitation Specialist about combining Viagra or Cialis with your regular vacuum device routine.
